Picabo was born with a serious dwarf heart defect that could not be fixed or cured. The vet had said most dogs die from this in 2 or 3 days, but "Boo" miraculously lived 7 months with the condition. She had a wonderful life with a family that loved her deeply and will miss her very much.
Her mommy wrote the following, marvelling at what a wonderful life Boo was able to have despite her condition:
"She felt the sun on her pretty white coat. She felt the breeze of a fall day in her face.
She tasted turkey on her first Thanksgiving and devoured it in one gulp. She romped in ribbons and bows, ripping through wrapping paper on her first Christmas eve.
She reaped the unending attention and laps of all our relatives, and spared no licks upon them.
She savored each little cookie and loved sparring for it with the others everyday.
She enjoyed laying on the sofa every evening watching us watch TV.
She adored my teenage daughter who took her to bed with her every night.
Boo taught my daughter responsibility and how to comfort one who is suffering.
She taught the other dogs (Bebe, Toy, and Trinket) tolerance and loyalty. I truly believe they rooted her on too.
We were so very blessed to have her in our lives for the short time she shared with us, We will remember her sweet face, her funny little stretches, her raspy little yaps, her darling way she opened her little mouth to pretend to chew on our fingers, and her way of snuggling into our arms whenever we picked her up. My daughter, our other babies and I will miss her.
Thank you all for your support and kind thoughts."
