Frequently Asked Questions
Is Mia spayed?  I am scared about the anesthesia.
Yes Mia is absolutely spayed!  She was spayed at 9 months old.  I believe it is extremely important for pets to be spayed or neutered, especially females, for their health.  I was very scared about the anesthesia as well but I just had to get over my own selfish fears and do what was best for Mia.  I did a lot of research on toy dogs and anesthesia, asked my vet a ton of questions, and knew it was something I had to do because I love her and want her to live a long healthy life.  Look in our Yorkie Care section for more information on anesthesia.
How can I guarantee the puppy I get will be as tiny as Mia?
There are no guarantees with size.  I know people who have purchased yorkies thought to be a teacup and they ended up being 10+ lbs, larger than the standard!  There are never any guarentees on size, two puppies that weigh the exact same can end up one being twice as big as the other.  The best estimate you can get on size is looking at the weight of the parents, but often times a puppy can either turn out smaller than both of his parents or larger than both.
Is Mia a teacup?
Mia is NOT a teacup.  Every time I take Mia out with me, which is a lot, I get a lot of people everywhere I go stop me to talk about her.  They always ask what breed she is, and I say yorkie, and they ask "oh so she's a teacup"?  I explain no, she's a lot smaller than the average yorkie, but there is no such thing as a teacup.  Reputable breeders despise the word, because many unscrupulous breeders have tried to raise their puppies smaller and smaller, breeding not for the healthy standard but for tiny size regardless of health.  It is more common now because people love small dogs and are willing to pay lots of money for what they believe is a "teacup".  The yorkie standard is about 4-7 pounds, but that is just a range.  Many yorkies are bigger than that, some smaller, but they are all just yorkies!
Tinies are more fragile and require more work than a normal yorkie, just to make sure she stays safe.  Tinies are an ENORMOUS responsibility in a tiny package.
Do you sell yorkies?  Where can I find a good breeder on the internet?
I am not a breeder, I just love yorkies!  For breeder referrals check out our referral page as well as the YTCA.
Please DO NOT BUY A PUPPY ON THE INTERNET!  Its just not a smart thing to do.  Pictures can be stolen and misrepresented as their own.  I have heard from many people who sent money and never got their puppy.  Many breeders will have websites but do not sell their puppies on them, only show pictures of their dogs.
